Cello Lessons

From a complete beginner to beginning again, I believe to be trained well using classical techniques, one can master the cello. It’s from here we can allow the tone and the beauty of the cello to come through us. These techniques can include :

• Tone -  posture, point of contact, dynamics,  intonation and vibrato.

• Shifting & positions - intelligent shifting with anchor points to help you shift with more confidence and stability.  How to choose and work out certain shifts and fingerings and why these apply to particular phrases or periods of music.

• Bow holds - one that is clear and works for your body and your bow.

• Genres - all the classical repertoire, to film music and pop. We can work on simply playing a beautiful melody, learning how to improvise and maybe even composing too.

• Musicality - understanding phrasing and structures in music, adding your own personal interpretation and style and seeing how we can bring that to life through you.

• Instrument - choosing the right instrument for you.

• Performance coaching - managing anxiety, developing presence when you play, building stage confidence.
